26 June, Ardgillan Castle and Demesne

Final day of the Dublin Plein Air festival. It was a showery day, not too sure waterclours was a wise choice, but it held off enough to get some work done. Attended a workshop in the morning with Cornelius Browne (big into getting feeling into the work). The afternoon was a 2hour paintout in the rose garden, in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

25th June, Farmleigh

Not getting the results I was hoping for today. My initial attempt to introduce gouache into my first painting just did not work. Suggest trying new techniques at home first before bringing on the Plein Air day. The subsequent attempts I Was hoping for a line and wash, but not with the results I want. I think the ink work needs to be bolder and with more detail, and the watercolour, less detailed with less pops of colour (less paint).

Future exercise, smaller page, more line, just 3 pops of colour

24th June, Howth Summit

A bit too much Air at the Plein Air festival this evening. Blown out of it on Howth Summit, but the rain held off and great to see everyone.

23 June, Malahide Town

Today was billed as an Urban Art event at Malahide Town. So I planned to bring a sketch book, black felt highlighters and watercolours. The result was OK but I feel some practice would not go amiss! The first two works were my better ones, the third picture was from another attendee from the Dublin Sketchers group, so practised (http://dublinsketchers.com/ looks like a good blog page)
